Team ReNew Orleans presented online to the Mayor of New Orleans

Team ReNew Orleans, comprised of students from Imperial College London, joined a meeting with Mayor LaToya Cantrell to present their winning project to reimagine Read & Lake Forest Corridors site in New Orleans.

The jury, comprised of City Officials, C40 experts, & local stakeholders, was extremely impressed with the team's ambitious project, which focused on pedestrianisation, affordable transport & social housing, implementing C40's Green & Thriving approach

The team reflected on their experience participating in the competition, noting "Between us we have lived in eight different cities, and, realising just how different they can be, discussing their respective strengths and flaws proved useful for coming up with our initial ideas and direction. We bottled up that lived experience and applied it in our reimagining of New Orleans. Prior to this project, we had never had much opportunity to work with our peers from other engineering disciplines. It was incredible to see what could be achieved by combining our diverse sets of knowledge and abilities. We have all learned so much more than we ever could in a university lecture!"

The team's faculty advisor, Dr Mike Cook, Professor of Concrete Materials, at Imperial College London, said "Thank you for recognising this great group of students who were so inspired by your challenge in New Orleans. Congratulations to everyone - you put in a great deal of energy into forming a really motivated team and your efforts have been deservedly recognised. Well done all."
