Youth Vision for Green & Thriving Neighbourhoods

This initiative calls on registrants or participants in the Students Reinventing Cities competition and members of the C40 Youth Hub to share their boldest ideas for transforming neighbourhoods into green, inclusive, and thriving places to live. 

Ideas should be rooted in four principles that define a green and thriving place to live:

• Complete - everything you need is close to home

• People-centred - streets and spaces for walking, meeting, moving

• Inclusive - designed for equity and belonging for everyone

• Green & resilient - grounded in nature-based climate solutions

Examples might include community-run markets, rooftop gardens, public squares reclaimed from traffic, reuse and repair hubs, or new housing designed to welcome diverse population groups & more.

Bring your idea to life

Participants may choose whichever format best communicates their vision:

• A sketch, drawing, or digital rendering

• A short poem or written piece (max. 200 words)

• A 30-second video

In addition to the creative piece, a brief written explanation (max. 2000 characters) is required to describe the core idea and how it connects to the four principles.

• Individuals who registered or participated in any Students Reinventing Cities competition.

• Members of the Members of the C40 Youth Hub

• Exchange opportunity with the Ove Arup Foundation.

• 1 September 2025 – Submission deadline (5:00 PM GMT)

• September 2025 – Jury evaluation

• Oct–Nov 2025 – Winners announced

• December 2025 – Additional opportunities for selected participants
