Montreal’s Bâtiment durable Québec’s 2025–2026

On 16 September 2025, partners and professionals gathered at Haleco for the launch of Bâtiment durable Québec’s 2025–2026 Montréal programme. The event highlighted how collaboration and innovation are shaping a low-carbon and inclusive urban future for Montréal.

Held on Haleco’s rooftop terrace, the evening brought together project partners from the public and private sectors. Located at the crossroads of Montréal’s rail, road and river networks, Haleco is more than a new architectural landmark – it represents a model for sustainable urban living and design excellence.

Developed through the C40 Reinventing Cities competition, Haleco is the winning project for Montréal's Commune Service Yard site and the first completed project under the programme. It brings together architects, engineers, builders and developers committed to advancing energy efficiency, circular construction and decarbonisation.

A roundtable discussion featured key contributors including ACDF Architecture, Pomerleau, Pageau Morel et associés, Cogir Immobilier, Rousseau Lefebvre, and the City of Montréal. Participants reflected on lessons from the project’s collaborative process and its potential to inspire future low-carbon neighbourhoods.

Recognised for its ambitious approach to reducing emissions and creating spaces that promote sustainable living, Haleco achieved LEED BD+C Platinum (v4) certification in 2025 – reinforcing its role as a flagship of Montréal’s transition towards a resilient, low-carbon built environment.
