Aquidabã is a 1.5 ha site composed of three areas: a bus terminal that will be removed with the restructuration of the collective transportation system and two other plots including existing buildings. The site benefits from a very good accessibility. Its attractiveness is reinforced by the proximity of Baixa dos Sapateiros, a nationally known traditional and popular commercial corridor.

The considered site is composed of three areas to be integrated within a robust conception of urban intervention: -Aquidabã bus terminal and two other plots including buildings housing the SUCOP (Superintendence of Conservation and Public Works of Salvador) - for a total of 15.300 square meters.

In a context of restructuration of the collective transportation system, Aquidabã offers an opportunity to develop an innovative project including commercial or service buildings, residential buildings and various other alternatives to be explored by the bidders, considering the strategic location of the area and its transformative potential.

It is an easily accessible lot, at the intersection of a section connecting the Upper and the Lower City via the Américo Simas tunnel.

The attractiveness of the site is reinforced by its proximity with Baixa dos Sapateiros, a nationally known traditional and popular commercial area, that has potential to become a popular wholesale commercial corridor.

The integration of this area within the residential, cultural and tourist district of Santo Antonio Além do Carmo is a key to come up with an integrated project, which may act as an anchor for the urban redevelopment of the whole area and foster innovation, sustainability and resiliency.

Expected program
Innovative project expected. Site may be used for the construction of commercial or service buildings and it may include residential buildings. Its location allows numerous alternatives to be defined by the bidders, considering its strategic location. A new road scheme should be proposed and the old bus station can be removed as there are better public transport alternatives nowadays.

The City Administration of Salvador is the owner of these areas (public terminal and two buildings belonging to the City Administration).
